Free Big File Transfers
YouSendIt
YouSendIt is not for long-term storage. Files placed there will be deleted after seven days, but it's great for sending large files to someone else. They will accept files up to 1 gigabyte (you read that right) and will allow downloads an unspecified number of times.
It's perfect for sending that TV show you got from bittorrent or that CD iso you made. Another handy use is to backup the drive of that old computer that never had a CD burner installed. If you're a small business that doesn't have dedicated server space, it's a great way to send CAD files or design plans.
Free Big File Storage
ShinyFeet
ShinyFeet offers unlimited file storage. Really.
I've held off from promoting them because, frankly, they sounded like one of those 90's dotcom companies destined to crash and burn. Now let me get this straight. I know nothing about them. I don't know how stable their company is or if they will be in service tomorrow. I do know that I've used them for months now without any problems whatsoever.
One feature that particularly appeals to me is their "DownloadURL" feature. This lets you to enter any the url of any file that's online, and ShinyFeet will download it to their servers. This is great if you're on a slow connection or maybe at work and want to retrieve the file later.
They also offer unlimited email and photo galleries, though I've never used them.
Free File Storage / File Sharing
Yahoo Briefcase
Somewhere betwixt ShinyFeet and YouSendIt rests Yahoo Briefcase. YB gives you thirty megs of storage (you can buy more if you want to) and allows you to keep your files private (only you can access them), public (anyone can access them), or "Friends"(only those on your list, with Yahoo accounts, can access them).
Because it's Yahoo, it integrates with all the other many services that Yahoo offers.
