Can't find what you want on the freeware list? Here's a guide to the best (or most interesting) Windows freeware sites on the web. If you Google "Windows freeware", you will find a lot of junk (as well as nedwolf). Here's the good ones.

A+ Freeware There's quite a bit of stuff here, a lot of it good. The screenshots are monster-sized, so the pages take a while to load. Most of the text appears to be copied and pasted from the site of each piece of software. It looks like they are going for quantity, not quality.
Botsko.net Another categorized list of Open Source applications - technical focus.
Cnet Downloads Same as ZDnet. Lots and lots of software, but finding the good freeware apart from the nag / share / adware is difficult.
Combobulate.com : Cool Programs Hodgepodge of alphabetized links. A few gems.
del.icio.us popular freeware The most famous and popular of the social bookmark sites. You'll often find nedwolf in the number one category here.
DiamondCS Freeware Console Tools for Windows A nice batch of technical utilities, mostly network-related.
FileForum BetaNews The most recent beta software. Difficult to find the freeware from the rest.
Last Freeware Version Quirky site with a very eclectic selection of utilities.
MajorGeeks All techy stuff, and a lot of it. Utility lovers paradise.

MyProgs is a social bookmarks site that focuses on software. The "free" category always has something interesting.
Nirsoft - freeware utilities A commercial site with an excellent collection of technical utilities that they developed. Password tools, network utilities, all kinds of good stuff.
NoNags recommended Probably the biggest of the freeware sites. LOTS of junk to wade through, but a lot of good stuff is there as well.
OpenCD Very good, worthwhile project of free and open source windows software that they distribute on CD. There are also links to the individual programs as well.
OSSWin Project: Open Source for Windows Somewhat dated but large, categorized list of Open Source software with a focus on technical utilities.
Portable Collection recommended An interesting site that has only freeware that can be run without having to be installed so you can carry them on a memory stick or USB flash drive.

Son of Spy Freeware A very odd, difficult to navigate site. A lot of software, however.
SynergyMX.com A simple, alphabetical list of some good freeware with links to the downloads. You will find most of the programs on nedwolf.
Tech Support Alert - The 46 Best Ever Freeware Utilities Edited list with good choices that is kept up to date. A good chunk of the list has the same free software as nedwolf, but there are a few, alternative choices the site editor has made. There is, apparently, another list you can get if you subscribe to the newsletter.
TeraByte Unlimited - Freeware Utilities - Hard Drive Management Commercial site with hard-drive utilities developed by the company.
TinyApps A mildly famous site that specializes in very small applications.
Tom's Hardware Guide: Ten Free Games Worth Downloading Just ten games, but picked by respected Tom's Hardware.
Tucows Famous repository of all kinds of downloadable software.
Windows XP Free Downloads Over 5000 downloads from 2000 companies.
www.emm.ie/freeware Simple, categorized, strange-colored site with decent software.
xtort.net Nice, categorized site. Again, going for quantity over quality.
ZDnet Same as Cnet. Lots and lots of software, but finding the good freeware apart from the nag / share / adware is difficult.
