Love the GIMP, hate it's interface? Get GIMPshop

the GIMP that acts like Photoshop

GIMPshop

The GimpIf you love Photoshop and hate the GIMP because of its "unusual" interface, you need to use GIMPshop.

GIMPshop is the Gimp, but it looks and acts like Photoshop. Why has nobody done this before? Photoshop is, for good or evil, the industry standard for image editing. Some of this has to do with its powerful capabilities, but it's partly because of inertia. Everybody's used to it's interface. Photoshop is even taught in schools.

In case you don't know, the GIMP is the premiere open source photo / graphic editor. Completely free, it's capabilities are untouched in the freeware world. (more info on the GIMP here)

And frankly, only a small fraction of Photoshop users actually need all its capabilities.

Scott Moschella took it upon himself to revamp the GIMP's user interface to resemble and act like Photoshop. The result is GIMPshop.

Originally only available for OS X, GIMPshop has been ported to every major platform (Windows & Linux) and is now used worldwide.

There are definitely GUI features available in Photoshop that are not in gimpShop, dockable palettes for one. These differences aren't enough to keep GIMPshop from taking off like a rocket. People are downloading it in droves.
