The king of social bookmarks. del.icio.us is incredibly popular and boasts the largest collection of 3rd party tools and companion sites. This is the site credited with the massive popularity of tags (one word labels) to categorize bookmarks and is largely responsible for the concept of folksonomies / tag clouds . One of the beauties of del.icio.us is the simplicity with which you can find relevant bookmarks. Spurl doesn't have quite the beautiful simplicity of del.icio.us, but it does have a few nice tricks.

It saves a cache of every bookmarked web page, so you can perform complete searches through the body of all spurled pages. This also helps with link rot (pages that have been moved or deleted) because the particular page you spurled has been saved on Spurl.net's servers. You tell me if that violates anyone's copyright. I sure don't know.

All links have a "related pages" button that, when pressed, will display a list of pages with common labels.

Furl is very similar to Spurl (why, it even rhymes!). Unlike Spurl, it requires an email address during registration. You can separate your bookmarks into public and private categories and can subscribe to other people's public lists. Unlike most services, you can also see who is subscribing to your bookmark lists as well.

Yahoo Bookmarks is only really helpful if you have the Yahoo toolbar installed. But, if you do, you have some powerful options. Yahoo Bookmarks is not intended to be a social bookmark site like the others. Instead, it essentially allows you use your personal bookmark list at any computer. In fact, it acts and feels very much like your browser's built-in bookmark manager. You can seamlessly import your current bookmarks or export your Yahoo bookmarks using standard formats to import into any browser.

Nothing too exciting, true, but the biggest advantage is its integration with the myriad of web services that Yahoo offers.
